Abstract
We develop a theory for the dynamics of tilted hexatic phases in liquid-crystal films. A renormalization-group analysis gives
exponents for the softening of the optical-mode relaxation rate near the hexatic-to-hexatic transitions. These exponents may
be observable in experiments on thermotropic and lyotropic liquid crystals.
